Jimmy Kimmel Opens With A Heartfelt Message

"It's too much to process." Jimmy Kimmel starts off his show not with jokes, but with his clear and true emotions on the shooting that killed 59 dead and 400 (+ possibly) injured. And he didn't just wear his heart on his sleeves, he wore his opinion on gun violence too. You can immediately hear the sorrow and how much he was trying to keep it together without breaking down in tears whilst shooting his show, Jimmy Kimmel Live. The late night comic had good reason to want to break down on camera, he grew up there as well as one of the performers in his band.

"Here we are again in the aftermath of another terrible, inexplicable, shocking and painful tragedy this time in Las Vegas, which happens to be my hometown and Cleto's hometown. As you know, at least fifty-nine people are dead, hundreds of people are wounded in what they say was the deadliest mass shooting in modern American history [Which is] coming about a year and a half after the previous deadliest mass shooting in modern American history in Orlando - where forty-nine people lost their lifes. Of course, we pray for the victims and their families and friends. We wonder why even though there's probably no way to ever know why a human being would... do something like this do... this to other human beings at a concert - having fun and listening to music. Jason Aldean was on stage; Luke Combs, who is here with us tonight, he played [at] the show too and no one ever could've expected something terrible to happen but it did..."

This was no doubt a terrible heartache for Jimmy Kimmel to have this discussion with his audience tonight but he felt it was necessary. You can catch the rest of his opening on E! News.
